Our story
Newly pregnant and sitting on the train home from work in the dark, Brianna realized she didn't want to be doing that with a new baby at home. The commute, the work, it wasn't inspiring anymore. It wasn't creative.
That night in 2012 she told Nic, and together we decided we could live off his salary while she grew the business she'd already started on the side, helping friends and family with their websites.
Brianna joined the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and the Ridgewood Guild and started networking. Between that and happy clients who recommended someone, who recommended someone, the business grew. A year in, with a six-month-old baby, it was definitely not part-time anymore!
Nic wasn't loving his job, and we were about to start a major home renovation. So what was the logical first step? Nic quit his job and joined Creare. Yes, you read that right. A six-month-old, a renovation and a brand-new business, all at the same time. Were we crazy? Yes! Looking back, it's hard to believe we took that chance.
That leap gave us the freedom to move, and in 2018 we traded the warm New Jersey spring for Maine's mud season so we could slow down and live by the ocean.
There isn't much separation between work and life for us. Some days that's exhausting (who are we kidding, most days!), but it gives us the flexibility we wanted and a teammate we both trust.
We've worked from a hospital room after childbirth, jumped on Zoom calls from vacation, and snuck off to the beach on an unexpectedly warm day. We don't just want to be an extension of your team. We want to be part of your business, and honestly, that's why we love working with small businesses.
